The puppy’s home base is reassuring, there is not the distraction of other dogs. He is calm, in a familiar environment, is more focused and will learn faster.
The lessons can be customised to suit the owner, convenient times can be set ie.after hours, dates can be changed and behavioural problems worked on. You will know how to handle your puppy if the bad behaviour returns.
Seeing that everyone wants a dog that behaves well, training your dog is a necessity. At home(indoors) there are lots of rules that you can teach him yourself, but the main puppy training is needed for your pet to become an obedient adult dog. That way you will have control over your dog and enjoy his company at all times.
Build a positive relationship with your dog: Using positive reinforcement – reward and motivate your dog for good behaviour
Teach life skills: Basic manners, skills and enough mental enrichment and physical exercise. Understand how your dog copes with situations and set him up for success.
Increase Sociability: Being friendly to with unknown people and dogs can be stressful for your dog. Thus, it is important to socialise your dog while he is a puppy.
Avoid problem behaviours: Communicating with your dog through cue words during training will be of assistance in resolving unwanted behaviour eg. Jumping up, destructive chewing, inappropriate barking and aggressiveness. Assist your dog to fit in your home as part of your family. Accepting that he will at times behave in a manner that’s unacceptable to you, however, he doesn’t know any better and need you to guide him.
Loyalty and Companionship: Building the bond between owner and dog is a way of building trust between the two of you. Understanding each other’s body language and the situation you’re in plays an important role.
The socialisation of your puppy is important in helping him to understand how humans and other animals (dogs) react and communicate. A special day (after Doggy Home Schooling program is completed) will be set aside to allow all the “Home Schooling” puppies to socialise. We will visit markets, parks(controlled environment) and visit a vet (just to weigh them and make them use to go to a vet). Owners will get the opportunity to learn “doggy” language and see how the dogs interact with other puppies and humans in a safe environment.
